Jack Ryan Adds Nonso Anozie
Nonso Anozie is moving from fighting wolves with Liam Neeson in The Grey and being a merchant prince of Qarth on Game of Thrones to the world of Tom Clancy's greatest character: Jack Ryan. The British actor has signed on for a part in the new film, which will be directed by Kenneth Branagh and see the titular hero, played by Chris Pine, fighting evil in his younger days. Paramount Pictures announced yesterday that production has officially begun on the project, which will be shooting in New York, Moscow and London.
Black Film has confirmed Anozie's casting in the movie, but doesn't give any details about the character that the actor will be playing (though on IMDb he is credited as a character named Embee). He joins an all-star cast that also includes Branagh (as the central villain), Kevin Costner (as Jack Ryan's mentor William Harper), and Kiera Knightley (as the female lead). Even though production has only just begun we've already seen two official images from the movie, including this one with Ryan riding a motorcycle, and this one with Ryan and Harper getting out of a helicopter. The movie will be in theaters on December 25, 2013 and you can read more about it in our Blend Film Database.
As for Anozie, Jack Ryan will actually be the second blockbuster that he's in next year. Back during the spring he was down in New Orleans working with director Gavin Hood on the highly-anticipated upcoming adaptation of Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game, in which he will play Sergeant Dap. That title will be in theaters a little over a month before the Branagh action film arrives, set to be in cinemas on November 1, 2013.
