Jack The Giant Killer And Rock Of Ages Both Get June 2012 Release Dates![]()
Though the film was originally scheduled to go into production last July, Bryan Singer's Jack The Giant Killer was delayed due to the director wanting to work out the visual effects and to give time for Christopher McQuarrie to rewrite the script. Now, though, with the movie set to go into production, a release date has been officially announced.
Warner Bros., according to Box Office Mojo, will now release Jack The Giant Killer on June 15, 2012. The date gives the film some serious competition as Sony's I Hate You, Dad, the comedy starring Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg, will be released that same weekend. Also interesting, the studio announced that they will be releasing Rock of Ages, the Adam Shankman-directed adaptation of the Broadway musical, on June 1, 2012, where it will go head-to-head with the Judd Apatow Knocked Up spin-off, starring Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann. It's typically rare for a studio to release two of its own movies so close to each other, but considering how jam-packed next summer will be I can't say that I'm too surprised (remember that WB also has a small production called The Dark Knight Rises out in July). One can only speculate at this point how it will affect either movie's legs. |
