Jaimie Alexander Making The Last Stand With Arnold Schwarzenegger![]()
Arnold Schwarzenegger won’t be making his Last Stand alone. Nurse Jackie co-star Jaimie Alexander, who fought alongside Thor as the warrior Sif in Kenneth Branagh summer blockbuster, has been cast as the female lead opposite the Governator in Kim Jee-Woon’s thriller, Variety reports.
Alexander would play Sarah Torrance, a deputy to Schwarzenegger’s border-town cop who must stand up to the leader of a massive drug cartel who is making a mad dash for the Mexico border. Schwarzenegger and his team, which will also include Rodrigo Santoro (300), must prevent the criminals from reaching the border… and lawless freedom. Thankfully, the trade says Alexander’s character will have a playful romance with Santoro’s fellow officer, because I really feared she’d have to play Ah-nold’s lover in some bizarre May-December plotline. She’ll shoot Last Stand for Lionsgate prior to heading back over to Marvel for the announced Thor sequel. The studio circled a Jan. 18, 2013 release date for Last Stand, which also stars Peter Stormare and Zach Gilford. If you’ve ever had the opportunity to read or watch interviews with Alexander, you’d know that she’s a hardcore comic and action geek, so one can guess that Marvel installments and Schwarzenegger action flicks are exactly what she’d like to be doing with her still-developing career. As we wait for her to kick butt alongside an aged Arnold, we can see Alexander with Jim Caviezel, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Hal Holbrook in the historical drama Savannah (due in theaters in 2012) and the romantic thriller Loosies, which should in out in December. |
