James Cameron Discusses Guillermo Del Toro And At The Mountains Of Madness![]()
Fans around the world were jumping for joy when Guillermo Del Toro announced that his next project will be an adaptation of At The Mountains Of Madness. After all, what director out there is better suited to tackle one of H.P. Lovecraft's greatest stories? We are still a long way away from the project coming out, so for now we'll just have to live with James Cameron telling us how awesome it will be.
In an interview with Wired, Cameron, who is serving as producer on the film, said that the film will be "an epically scaled horror film and we haven’t seen anything like that in a really long time — I guess since Aliens." (it just wouldn't be Cameron without a nice self-congratulatory pat on the back). The director went on to commend Del Toro as the perfect man for the job, saying that the Hellboy director, "brings an eye for design that is so original and so quirky and so steeped in the lore of movie design and horror design, but always fresh and unexpected." To put it simply, At The Mountains Of Madness is going to be an event. It's hard to conjure a director-source material pair better than Guillermo del Toro and H.P. Lovecraft. One can only imagine what vision he has in store for the Ancient Ones, but you just know that it will be inspired and brilliant. Now if only we could get him to do a Cthulhu movie as well... |
