There are some stories out there that even the best writers, and I’m clearly not one of those, would have trouble stretching into three paragraphs. One such story is the probable casting of James Franco (you know him as Harry Osborne in Spider-Man ) in a movie called High Rollers. Moviehole says that Franco will play a man who has to go to great lengths to pay off his gambling debts.
Unfortunately, other than the casting of Franco and that Steven Brill is the writer/director, not much is known about the movie. I could spend some time making fun of Brill, who previously has wowed us with Little Nicky, Without a Paddle, and as the screenwriter for all three Mighty Ducks movies. But I’d rather encourage everyone to prepare for Franco’s appearance in High Rollers by renting 'Freaks and Geeks' on DVD.
In 'Freaks and Geeks,' Franco played stoner Daniel on one of the best prematurely cancelled shows in television history. Other than playing James Dean in a television movie, it’s his best performance. Hard to believe it’s better than what he did in Flyboys, but true. The show only lasted 18 episodes, how that happens and 'Two and a Half Men' ends up in the top 10 for years on end is one of the true injustices in the world today. Much bigger than any war or genocidal atrocity. But Netflix has the DVD’s and you’ve got the player, so take a chance and see what all your slightly smug nerdy friends have been talking about all these years.

HIGH ROLLER, huh? Is it a comedy or straight drama? Sounds like it should be a comedy.
Franco's been stretching his acting chops & that's a GOOD thing! I'll watch him in just about ANYthing!
His Daniel Desario in F&G was the only reason I bought the entire series on DVD & had never even seen it
when it had it's run on TV some years back! (I'm obviously impressed with the guy!)
This is one actor who doesn't grab for the limelight & wants to do work that HE's interested in no matter WHAT others might say. Shy but talented & oh-so-handsome! That's James Franco!
