Jamie Foxx loves a good hot-button issue. Since 2005 he’s hopped between two middle east movies and now he’s signed on to a film about a racist serial killer. And why not? He's pretty good at tackling the tough stuff.

Variety say he’s joined the cast of The Zebra Murders: A Season of Killing, Racial Madness, and Civil Rights, an adaptation of a same named book which details a series of black on white serial killings in 1973 and 1974. Jamie plays one of two black police detectives leading the investigative team who cracks the case. Along the way he and his partner fight racial discrimination from the police department and a minority police union who sue the department for discrimination.

It’s being adapted by The Kingdom’s scribe Matt Carnahan, which may explain Foxx’s involvement. Smart move really, The Kingdom was masterful and Jamie’s smart to keep rolling with whatever Carnahan is doing.
