Disney’s A Christmas Carol doesn’t really seem like it’s going to be all that great for children, which we sort of already knew. But the more footage I see, the more I feel like it’s not really a movie for adults either. At least not me. It seems a little… boring. And this animation Zemeckis has been messing with just gets creepier and creepier.

With that said, Disney has released their Japanese trailer for A Christmas Carol. It has a few different shots than the ones we’ve seen before, but the truth is that we’ve seen this story a million times, and the only thing different about this version is that it’s in performance capture animation, which, let's all admit, is pretty odd.

With Pixar creating movies from scratch that look so ridiculously amazing, it's hard to understand why Zemeckis is sticking to performance capture. If he wants his animation to look real, why not make a live-action movie? If he wants animation, why not from scratch? This middle ground just doesn't seem to be working. Here's the Japanese A Christmas Carol trailer. What do you think?
