Jared Leto's Joker Performance In Suicide Squad, Described In One Word

There is a great deal to look forward to in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, from the look of the first ever live-action Harley Quinn to the chemistry that exists within the ensemble, but right at the top of the list is the fact that the movie will be bringing us a brand new cinematic version of The Joker. Following in the footsteps of actors like Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger, the Oscar winning Jared Leto will be playing the new version of the Clown Prince of Crime, and DC fans everywhere are anxious to see what he brings to the role. And while we don't know much about the portrayal yet, we have word from a trustworthy source that it will be "majestic."

This trustworthy source is none other than David Ayer himself, who has been all over his Twitter account in recent weeks as Suicide Squad makes its way through pre-production. The filmmaker was responding to fan questions when he gave us a brief glimpse of what to expect from Jared Leto's Joker:

Considering that The Joker is at his greatest when he is treating the citizens of Gotham to an extravagant, over-the-top display of his deep psychosis, "majestic" really is an adjective I love hearing in association with the character.

Recently, Jared Leto has apparently been working hard to get into the proper shape for his Suicide Squad performance. While he went super skinny for his last performance in Dallas Buyers Club, he's recently been putting on weight in preparation for his comic book movie debut. He also recently told Entertainment Tonight that he is going to be cutting the long locks of hair he's been growing for a while, presumably for his turn as The Joker. But when might we actually get to see him?

Weirdly enough, the answer to that question may be "in the next few hours." As we reported earlier, David Ayer has also said on his Twitter account that something Suicide Squad related is coming tomorrow, and while there has been no indication to what we can expect just yet, there is a possibility that we could get our first look at the cast in costume - including Jared Leto's Joker. This is only a theory for the time being, but definitely stay tuned tomorrow, as whatever it is will still surely be exciting.

Suicide Squad will be going into production in a few weeks, and will be heading to theaters on August 5, 2016.
