If you’re not yet familiar with Jason Segel, get your ass in gear. The 6’4” actor has been a “that guy” for many years, since nobody bothered to watch Judd Apatow’s amazing late 90’s TV show Freaks and Geeks (seriously guys, go get the DVDs for the gods’ sake), but is now finding himself one of the most sought after writer/actors in Hollywood.

According to THR, the How I Met Your Mother star is joining the growing cast of Bad Teacher, top-lined by Cameron Diaz, with Lucy Punch and John Michael Higgins in support. Teacher follows a gold digging seventh grade teacher on the hunt for her colleague’s boyfriend, the school’s model teacher. Segel will take on the role of the gym teacher, as opposed to being the target of the gold diggers affection like you might think. The size and purpose of the role is unknown, but even a supporting role from Segel will be a show stealer.

Screenwriters Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg’s latest big screen abortion was Year One, but despite how indescribably shitty that movie is, you can’t help but be excited for Bad Teacher with Segel involved. More on this as the full cast fills out and more story details get release.
