Jeff Bridges Officially Attached To Star With Ryan Reynolds In R.I.P.D.![]()
Thanks to True Grit and Tron: Legacy, you couldn't drive more than a couple miles in a city without seeing Jeff Bridges' face on a billboard somewhere. A great selling point thanks to his Oscar win for his performance in Crazy Heart, the guy saturated the market to such a degree that it was surprising he only had two movies coming out. Fast forward to 2011 and the guy's schedule is completely clear. Whether it's because he's chosen to take some time off or because the roles aren't rolling in (we're banking on the former), we won't be seeing The Dude on screen anytime this year. Fortunately, we won't be able to say that about 2012.
The Wrap has confirmed previous reports and has received word that Bridges is officially signed on to star alongside Ryan Reynolds in R.I.P.D. An adaptation of the comic by Peter M. Lenkov and directed by Robert Schwentke, the Oscar winner will play Roy, a dead gunslinger from the old west who teams up with a recently deceased cop to solve the cop's murder. Zach Galifianakis was previously attached to play the part but dropped out due to scheduling issues. I count myself among Galifianakis' fans, but it's hard to deny that Jeff Bridges is a serious upgrade. Perhaps it's because it's been too long since I've watched True Grit (when the hell is that Blu-ray getting here?), but I desperately want to see that guy in cowboy duds again. |
