Jennifer Aniston Breaks Up On Screen![]()
There's nothing like a good breaking-up movie to balance out all those getting-together romantic comedies. As well, I suppose there's no better title for a break-up movie than The Break Up. Unless, of course, it's War of the Roses, which seems to be the concept on which this latest movie is based. Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston star in the movie that shows just how nasty ends of relationships can be when you stop yelling and start plotting.
While there's attraction in the irony of Jennifer Aniston starring in a movie about the end of a relationship, it's tough to find a reason to get excited about this one. The script was penned by first timers Jeremy Garelick and Jay Lavender and the trailer seems to lack any kind of real comedic sparkle (there has to be a harsher way to get back at someone than getting them kicked off the couple's bowling team). I, for one, would have found it more interesting had it starred Brad Pitt instead of Vaughn. Hey, don't get all uppity on me! You know you were thinking it too. Perhaps solace can be found in the guest-star list. Jon Favreau pairs up with Vaughn for the first time in five years and Jason Bateman, fresh from his failed struggle to keep "Arrested Development" on the air, makes an appearance as well. If you look fast you just might catch them in the trailer, which you can check out below in Quicktime. The Break Up arrives June 2, 2006. |
