Jennifer Garner Delievers An Impassioned Speech In First Clip From Butter
It's no secret that Butter, the new film from director Jim Field Smith, is a parody of the 2008 Democratic presidential primary. The film revolves around a woman's (Jennifer Garner) extreme competition with a young African-American girl (Yara Shahidi) in a butter sculpting contest, with the characters representing Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama, respectively. It's a pretty obvious metaphor, but just in case it's not clear enough for you, check out the first clip from the film, which was released over on the movie's first viral site:
What I find most impressive about this clip is how they fit in the movie's huge ensemble cast. In addition to having Jennifer Garner on stage, shots around the gymnasium reveal Ty Burell, Ashley Greene, Phyllis Smith, Alicia Silverstone, Rob Corrdry, Kristen Schaal, and Olivia Wilde. Oddly missing, though, is Hugh Jackman, who play's Garner's high school flame. The clip seems to come from the last act of the movie, so who knows what his character is up to by that point. Butter premiered earlier this month at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be released on October 21st. For more on the movie, be sure to head over to our Blend Film Database. |
