With all the acclaim heaped on her performance in Dreamgirls, the pressure is on for Jennifer Hudson to prove that it was more than just a one-time fluke. For the moment, she seems to be stuck choosing between a singing career and acting. With the state the music industry is in these days, you’d think the correct choice would be obvious.
But Variety says she may have found her next role, opposite fellow Oscar winner Forest Whitaker in Winged Creatures. The movie would cast her as Whitaker’s daughter, a role which she looks right for physically, and might give her a chance to learn a thing or two from a real acting pro. Remember, despite all her awards, Hudson is still relatively new to acting. She’s only been in one movie. She was great in that one movie, but it can’t hurt for her to spend more time around an experienced, money every time performer like Forest.
Winged Creatures is another one of those Crash knock-off connections movies, this time about a group of strangers who form unique relationships with one another after surviving a random murder at a Los Angeles diner. In addition to Whitaker and Hudson, the film stars Kate Beckinsale, Dakota Fanning, Josh Hutcherson, Guy Pearce, Jackie Earle Haley, and ‘Big Love’s’ Jeanne Tripplehorn.
