Jerry Garcia Lives![]()
He sang the lyrics “Riding that train…high on cocaine” and caused music fans around the world to rejoice over The Grateful Dead. A nation of Deadheads were born, smoking their blunts in jolly unison.
And although their favorite druggie hero has passed on, a movie about him is in the works. According to Variety, two partners of J2 Entertainment are making a feature about Singer/Guitarist Jerry Garcia. The first one, Justin Berfield, is best known as the bullying brother Reese on the show “Malcolm In The Middle”. He is 19 years old and his partner, Jason Felts, is 26. The duo optioned two books about Garcia (“Captain Trips” and “One More Saturday Night”) from Sandy Troy. The movie will be about Garcia’s recovery from a drug-induced coma. His ex-wife Carolyn left him because of his severe drug problems, but came back to nurse him back to health. Afterwards, Garcia had to learn how to play guitar all over again, but launched the band to their biggest success. A film about him could be interesting, as long as it doesn't play like a Public Service Announcment against drugs. That might please the "7th Heaven" crowd, but would be awfully boring for the rest of us. |
