Jessica Simpson wants to adapt a Jackie Collins novel. She claims to have actually read the book “Lovers and Players”, and was so taken with it that she’s determined to play the lead role in a feature film version of it. I know, I don’t believe she reads either.

But British newspaper The Daily Telegraph says Jessica has bought up the film rights to the sex-laden novel to ensure she’ll have first crack at playing the lead in the movie version. Jessica’s character is described as the “lead vixen” in the story following the exploits of a billionaire, his three sons, and a sexy young, 19-year-old waitress named Liberty. I’ve got a feeling that somewhere in this novel, at least once, someone yells out “set me free!” But then I’ve never read Jackie Collins. Maybe she’s better than that. I’m not.

Jessica believes this is her shot at becoming a serious actress. She thinks the role is perfect for her, and hopes it will showcase her acting ability. Unfortunately for her, you actually need to have some acting ability be fore you can showcase it. That’ll be a bit of a speed bump, but Jessica should be able to pull off looking sexy even if she can’t manage complicated dialogue.

No word on who will develop the movie for her, or if indeed anyone is even interested in doing so.
