We’ve been hearing about The Beaver for several months now. At one point Steve Carell was supposed to be involved but now THR says it could be Jim Carrey toplining this fairly weird concept.

The script in question is about a man who develops a relationship with the beaver puppet he wears on his arm. They’re pretty close, he talks to him and treats the puppet as if it’s a companion. It’s being compared to equally oddball movies like Being John Malkovich and Lars in the Real Girl, in which a man develops a relationship with a blow-up doll. Somehow I think the beaver will be more socially acceptable.

The Beaver is still looking for a director and word is that Carrey is waiting around to see who they hire before making his decision.
