John C. Reilly Offered Haymitch Abernathy Role In The Hunger Games![]()
The casting of Gary Ross' The Hunger Games has been on a real roll as of late. In the last few weeks alone the film has added Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Amanda Steinberg, Dayo Okeniyi, Elizabeth Banks, Leven Ramblin, Willow Shields and Paula Malcomson, who was just added earlier today. The train isn't slowing down either.
Vulture is reporting that John C. Reilly is set to be offered the role of Haymitch Abernathy in the adaptation of Suzanne Collins' series of books. Though he is a paunchy drunk when he is first introduced, Abernathy was a former winner of the Hunger Games for District 12 - the same district that Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), the central protagonist, fights for. Abernathy ends up helping Katniss and her best friend Petta (Hutcherson) survive in the games. As I mentioned when the trailer for Terri premiered earlier this week, I am in constant awe of John C. Reilly's versatility when it comes to projects and this is certainly no exception. And who better to play the part? (I mean that in the nicest way possible). Sound off on your opinion of the casting below. |
