The modern day Cheech and Chong are getting back together for a little holiday revelry, Christmas spirit and rampant bong hits under the mistletoe. In an interview with Collider.com, John Cho spoke about the reality of a new installment to the Harold and Kumar franchise, A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas. The upcoming movie would have a holiday theme, take place a few years later, and involve the pair of misfits doing whatever it is stoners do for the celebratory season. Smoke out of ornaments perhaps? Some of the logistics are still up in the air, like Kal Penn’s availability, but the movie looks like it’s going to happen.

For as silly as the Harold and Kumar movies are, they each have a dose of commentary within them. While they were searching for White Castle, the two were really trying to carve out their own niche in the world without being downtrodden by the man. When they headed off to Guantanamo Bay we really got a speech on, *gasp*, racism and politics. This one will hopefully be a commentary on all the nonsense and rigmarole involved with an increasingly ridiculous American holiday season. And yes, not to fear, Neil Patrick Harris will be back for some more.

Sidenote: I didn’t know this, but while I was searching for a good marijuana slang term to use, I came across “Christmas tree.” How often do you think that reference will come up in the movie?
