Very early in the Terminator Salvation development process, about a year or so ago, an absolutely insane rumor about the movie started making the rounds. The rumor, started by AICN claimed that Terminator Salvation would end with a huge, bizarre plot twist in which it would be revealed that John Connor is actually a terminator. Don’t worry, that’s not a spoiler. You’ll find out why it isn’t in the next paragraph.

The fan backlash is instant and Terminator Salvation director McG was quick to decry the rumors as utterly wrong. But maybe they weren’t. Moviehole says that not only were those spoilers spot on, the revealing of them prompted the studio to completely change the third act of the film.

So whether your liked or hated the old rumored ending, at least now whatever they have in store will be a surprise. Better still, word is that this new ending is getting much better test audience reactions than the original, big reveal ever did.
