John Goodman made a name for himself as the family man on “Roseanne”, but now he’s entering a whole different type of family.

According to Zap2It, the hefty actor has joined the cast of Death Sentence, a violent revenge drama starring Kevin Bacon. Goodman, proving he is miles away from the days of lying on the couch and worrying about Darlene, is playing a bad-news gang guy.

In the film, he will play Bones Darly, an arms dealer/head of a drug ring that includes his 2 sons. I guess he took the annual “bring your kids to work” day a little too literally. Along with Goodman, other new additions to the cast include Aisha Tyler, Kelly Preston, and Leigh Whannell (Saw) as a gang-member named Stink. Bacon will play the father who seeks revenge after a gang targets his family.

Director James Wan (another Saw veteran) is currently shooting the film in Columbia, S.C.
