Any project with Simon Pegg is always good news-- even turkeys like Run, Fat Boy, Run benefited from his very presence. But Pegg teaming up with John Landis, the Blues Brothers director who hasn't made a major feature since 1998-- that's cause for celebration.

Dread Central got the news at the Monster-Mania Convention, where Landis talked about his plans to direct Burke and Hare, a drama about a real-life series of murders in Edinburgh, Scotland in the 1820s. He also said that Pegg has signed on to play the lead, presumably one of the two men who killed seventeen people and sold their bodies to a medical college.

The role sounds like a huge 180 for Pegg, who's known these days exclusively as a comedian. But this change in tone could be great for him, proving he has dramatic chops or, at the very least, turning more people on to his comedy. I'm dying to hear more about this project and Pegg's reasons for signing on to it-- speak up, guys!
