I’m really tired of hearing about how Johnny Depp based the character of Captain Jack Sparrow on Keith Richards. The character was more fun before we knew where he came from. Johnny though, has parlayed this Keith Richards thing into a cottage industry. Now he’s taken the next step and gone from imitating him to posterizing him.

Pop Sugar says Depp is working on a Keith Richards documentary. Since they’re a celebrity site and mainly concerned with taking creepy pictures of celebrity kids (who exactly is the market for these photos?) they don’t offer any further detail like, for instance, exactly what his role is on this documentary. Is he producing? Playing Keith Richards in a series of unauthorized re-enactments? If it’s the latter, I can’t wait to see Johnny Depp fall out of a coconut tree.

We’ve heard rumors that he may actually be directing. If so, it’ll be the first thing he’s directed since 1997’s The Brave. All I want to know is… where is The Rum… Diaries. Ditch this Keith Richards cockroach and focus on Hunter S. Thompson, Johnny.
