As proven to a wide audience by the Pirates of the Caribbean films, Johnny Depp is an absolute joy to watch on screen. Few actors can truly match his charisma and he can create chemistry with absolutely anyone. With the first trailer for The Tourist online, courtesy of Yahoo!, the real question is why he hasn't been doing action-thrillers his whole career. The man was born for it.

While the plot seems kind of familiar, ordinary man being chased due to a mistaken identity, it's appears that it is going to be performances that elevate the new film from director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. As quick witted and sharp as Depp can be, he plays the naive fish-out-of-water quite well. Cap it all off with a great quip about upgrading from room service to attempted murder and you have a quite entertaining trailer on your hands.
