For the past few months we've had a pretty good idea of what will happen in Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. According to previous reports, the sequel will see Nicolas Cage's Johnny Blaze come out of seclusion when the devil makes plans to inhabit his mortal son's body and ascend to Earth. When Johnny Whitworth was added to the cast, it was said that he would be playing a "criminal hired by the devil to help find his son." It turns out it's actually a bit more complicated than that.

Out promoting his newest film, Limitless, Whitworth revealed in an interview with AMC that he will actually be playing the villain known as Blackout in the film. According to the actor, most of the movie will see him playing a human, but then he is given powers by the devil so that he can actually be a worthy fight against Ghost Rider. One of the earliest villains in the comic book series, Blackout, as his name would imply, has the ability to negate all visible light around him and also has increased strength and speed.

Anything has to be better than Wes Bentley's Blackheart, right? Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance hits theaters February 17, 2012. Check out the video below to see the full interview with Whitworth, the stuff about Ghost Rider coming up at around the 4:00 minute mark.
