Every actor lucky enough to be part of Bridesmaids seemed to get a boost from what's doubtlessly the funniest comedy so far this year-- Kristen Wiig got the most attention in the lead role, of course, but with Chris O'Dowd, Jon Hamm, Rose Byrne and Melissa McCarthy all stealing scenes right and left, they and their co-stars are enjoying a lot more attention these days. McCarthy has already taken advantage of it once already, selling a pitch to Paramount along with Bridesmaids co-writer Annie Mumalo, and now she's got another project up her sleeve, this one possibly reuniting her with two of the main men of Bridesmaids.

Deadline has dug up some details on the project that Bridesmaids director Paul Feig and Judd Apatow will be working on together at Universal, and they say it would be an "unconventional romance" starring McCarthy as a woman being intensely courted by a guy played by Jon Hamm. Feig said during the Bridesmaids publicity rounds that he was writing a starring comedy role for Hamm, and this could easily be it, though who knows how many ideas he has in his head. And McCarthy, though frumped up beyond belief to play her hilarious Bridesmaids character, is actually gorgeous in real life; she's not a skinny minny like the women Hamm is constantly bedding as Don Draper as Mad Men, but she can more than hold her own against the actor described so aptly by Tina Fey as looking "like a cartoon pilot." This is a match-up I'd love to see, and hopefully the momentum from Bridesmaids will be enough to get this one going quickly.
