Jon M. Chu Enters Negotiations To Be The Director Of G.I. Joe 2![]()
Last week it was revealed that Paramount was getting closer to finding a director for G.I. Joe 2, whittling down their list to two top candidates: Jon M. Chu and F. Gary Gray. While it may still be a while until a movie actually gets made, there is now a higher percent chance that at some point Snake Eyes is going to start a break dancing routine.
Deadline is reporting that Paramount has officially tapped Jon M. Chu as the director of the G.I. Joe sequel. The move comes only a couple weeks after Chu's latest film, the Justin Bieber concert movie Never Say Never, earned the studio nearly $30 million opening weekend. In addition to F. Gary Gray, apparently Jaume Collet-Serra was also in the mix, but considering that he recently signed on to make The Red Circle and Harker his dance card is pretty full. Though the report says that Paramount wants Chu to direct their picture they are working out a deal still. I'm still not entirely clear on why we need a G.I. Joe 2, but I guess there must be an audience out there somewhere for it. Now all they have to do is get all of the cast members back and we'll see what Chu can do. |
