Jonah Hill In Talks For Neighborhood Watch, But Will Fox Show Him The Money?![]()
This year has been quite good to Jonah Hill. In addition to losing a lot of weight, he completed production on 21Jump Street (a project he's been developing for years based on a script he wrote) and his two films set to come out this fall, Bennett Miller's Moneyball and David Gordon Green's The Sitter, both look great. When you're having that kind of year, it makes plenty of sense to start expecting a bit more money from the contracts you sign. That said, those extra zeros may prevent Hill from working with Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn on Neighborhood Watch.
Vulture reports that Hill is currently in negotiations to star in the sci-fi comedy, but things have been held up by Hill's request for more money than he usually gets. According to the site's sources, the biggest factor in the talks is that Moneyball has tested "better than any in recent history at Columbia Pictures" (which I find amazing considering The Social Network came out just last year). Fox, the studio behind Neighborhood Watch, is aiming to make the film for $90 million, but much of that will be going towards Stiller and Vaughn's salaries. In the movie, married men looking for some time away from their wives decide to form a neighborhood watch committee, but get in over their heads when they discover an imminent alien invasion. Directed by The Lonely Island's Akiva Schaffer, the project's script was originally written by Jared Stern but was recently revamped by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. How will this unfold? Will Fox recognize Hill's starpower and adjust the budget, or will they try and go for a smaller name? The second we know more, we'll be sure to update. |
