Jonah Hill’s career is certainly moving along. Within one year the actor went from playing second fiddle to Justin Long in the underappreciated Accepted to playing in the background to Steve Carell (Evan Almighty) and the Judd Apatow gang (Knocked Up), as well as being prominently featured in Rogen’s Superbad.
2008 looks like it will continue Hill’s lucky career streak. He’s been added to the cast of Ricky Gervais’s next picture, This Side of the Truth, which the British comedian will co-write and co-direct with Matt Robinson, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The picture marks Gervais’s debut as a feature film director, and Hill’s continuing ascendance on the comedic scale.
The movie will star Gervais as an average guy in a world where lying doesn’t exist. When his character suddenly discovers the ability to tell untruths, he uses it to seduce a woman who would normally be unattainable for an average guy (played by Jennifer Garner).
Jonah Hill joins the cast as a depressed neighbor of Gervais’s. Comedian Louis C.K. is also joining the cast, slated to play the loser best friend of the main character.
