It was too good to be true. Last week we found out here that Jonah Hill was in negotiations to join the cast of Transformers 2, probably as Sam Witwicky’s roommate. Unfortunately, EW now says things have fallen apart. Jonah Hill is out.
Apparently Optimus Prime is not a fan of Superbad. Bummer. Jonah would have been great as Shia LaBeouf’s sidekick. Though maybe it’s for the best. Hill’s not as funny when he can’t curse, and I’m not sure you can have Optimus Prime ask him about his wiener and still get a PG-13.
With Hill out that means there’s a big opening in the sequel’s cast. Start dreaming up age appropriate names to play Shia’s buddy. What’s Michael Cera doing?

I think it was a mistake to let him go. If the comedy was done with enough intelligence, as contrary to popular belief you need a certain amount of intelligence to "get" the type of comedy Jonah brings, I think they could have easily slipped in some one-liners that we would be using for years to come.
Ask me about my wiener!!!
I think not wanting to step up to the plate on this one and make some truly witty comedy instead of the candy-pop crap they forced down our throats in between fight scenes in part 1 was a MAJOR cop-out.
Thank god I would have been upset if they'd put him in. Not that I don't like him but not for this movie. He was great in Forgetting Sarah Marshall!! And puleeze don't even joke about Michael Cera, I hate him. He doesn't even act. He just stands there looking like he could pee his pants at any minute and spits out lines without any talent at all.
