Will someone explain to me how Jonah Hill has become popular? I think the guy is hilarious, but he’s not exactly what most people would consider a go-to guy for movie roles. Still, he’s definitely getting some plumb roles, largely from his entry into Camp Apatow, leading to Superbad, Knocked Up, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Hill isn’t just stuck in raunch comedies though. Apparently the actor is in talks to move into blockbuster action territory with Transformers 2. This will still allow him to lean on his comedic talents, serving as the comedy relief (although how anyone plays comedic sidekick to Shia LaBeouf, who is the comedic sidekick for the giant freakin’ robots, is beyond me).

The news comes from Entertainment Weekly, who has it on good authority that Hill will play LaBeaouf’s college roommate when the movie starts filming later this summer.

My only hope for Transformers 2 is that with Hill on board (assuming talks go through), the comedy can be left to the humans and the machines can just be impressive instead of trying to provide a comedic side as well.
