Joseph Gordon-Levitt is joining the cast of Christopher Nolan’s next movie, the not-Batman one called Inception. Now he has a way to balance the actor karma scales, just in case G.I. Joe sucks as everyone seems to think it does.

Inception stars Leonardo DiCaprio as… well we don’t know. But JGL will play… well we don’t know that either. Do you really need to know? It’s the new movie from the guy who made The Dark Knight (and also The Prestige which doesn’t get enough credit). You’ll figure out the plot after you watch it. His name should be more than enough to get asses in the theater.

In vague terms, the movie is set within “the architecture of the mind”, which could make it anything from The Cell to Memento. JGL is some sort of associate to DiCaprio’s character, who’s a corporate CEO type. HR says that Levitt is taking over a role abandoned by James Franco. If so, that’s a definite upgrade. From Spider-Man’s pot smoking buddy to the next Marlon Brando. Well done there Nolan.

Also in the film are Marion Cotillard as DiCaprio’s wife, Ellen Page as his grad-student sidekick, and Cillian Murphy as… well let’s just say The Scarecrow until we hear otherwise.
