Whether or not that rumor that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in line to replace Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man 4 ever pans out, it looks like the Lookout star and future Oscar winner isn’t waiting around to find out. He’s lining up quality projects as fast as he can get them, and if I don’t stop fawning over him there’s a good chance he’s going to slap me with a cease and desist. Sorry folks, he just really is that good.

Anyway, my personal acting hero JGL has been cast as the romantic lead in The Frog King according to the Hollywood Reporter. The movie is about a ne’er-do-well assistant editor with a tendency towards screwups which threatens a relationship with the girl of his dreams. This could be just another formulaic romantic comedy, but unless Levitt has decided to cash in his chips and take something crappy just so people will actually show up to see it, I find that hard to believe. His recent choice in roles has been inspired, if not exactly financially successful.

The next place you’ll see Levitt is probably in a movie called Killshot, where he plays a psychopathic killer who teams up Mickey Rourke to kill Diane Lane before she can make Under the Tuscan Sun 2.
