He's saved the world from Decepticons twice now-- well, at least I think that's what happened at the end of Transformers 2-- Josh Duhamel is moving on to helping Katherine Heigl in her efforts to be a Serious Actress. He'll co-star with Heigl in Life as We Know It, a romantic drama about two strangers who must care for the daughter of their mutual friends after the friends die in a car accident.
Variety notes that Duhamel will also be doing the romantic thing later this year, starring opposite Kristen Bell in When in Rome. From the sound of Life as We Know It, though, it might require some dramatic heavy lifting-- you've got to cry in the funeral scene, right? Greg Berlanti, the TV veteran behind Brothers & Sisters and Eli Stone, will be directing the film, his first since 2000's The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy.
