One is the guy who lost out on the lead role in Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man to Andrew Garfield, even after making a video showing what he could do as the webslinger. The other is not only the brother of the actor who is playing Thor in Marvel's upcoming superhero movie, but was completely edited out of Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables so that the plot wouldn't become too much of a mess. Now both of them are part of a franchise that could potentially be bigger than all of the others mentioned above.

We've received a press release announcing that Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth have officially been cast the in Gary Ross-directed The Hunger Games. Just as rumored on Friday, Hutcherson will be playing Peeta Mellark, the lead male role who saved Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) when she was starving, while Hemsworth will be playing Gale Hawthorne, Katniss' long time friend. The film is set to be released on March 23, 2012 and will go in to production later this year.

So what do we think, Hunger Games fans? Hutcherson will probably have to dye his hair blonde, but does he have the abilities to play the character? How about Hemsworth - does he have what it takes to play a convincing Gale? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
