Josh Radnor To Write And Direct Liberal Arts, Starring Elizabeth Olsen![]()
Fifteen months ago Josh Radnor found himself surprising a lot of people. After years of starring on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, his directorial debut, Happythankyoumoreplease, premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and took home the Audience Award in the drama category. The movie was recently given a very limited release (we're talking 19 theaters here), but where do you go for your sophomore effort? You team up with the number one star of the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, of course!
THR reports that Radnor will write and direct Liberal Arts, which will star Elizabeth Olsen. Sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley, Olsen broke out in a major way at this past winter's Park City film festival when she starred in both Martha Marcy May Marlene and Silent House and received rave reviews for both. In the film, the actress will play a college student who falls for a character played by Radnor, a 35-year-old stuck in arrested development, when they bond over shared taste in literature and music. Radnor plans on shooting the film this spring when How I Met Your Mother goes on hiatus. Though I haven't seen Happythankyoumoreplease and I legitimately hated his character during the first season of the CBS show (I've liked him much more in all of the other seasons), I find myself rooting for Radnor's career. Let's hope he can deliver. |
