This summer starts the new revolution in 3-D. Or that’s what Hollywood is hoping. I’m not talking about those IMAX 3D movies you’ve seen either, where they take ten minutes of Harry Potter and make his broomstick handle look as if it’s about to be shoved up your rear. This summer we’re getting big-budget, Hollywood blockbusters shot entirely using the latest in 3-D technology. I’m not talking about James Cameron’s Avatar either. Jim won’t be the first, you’ll have to wait till 2009 to see what Terminator’s daddy has up his sleeve. Instead, look to New Line’s Cinema’s re-adaptation of the great Jules Verne: Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D.
Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D hits theaters on July 11th of this year, with Brendan Fraser in tow. Of course Journey to the Center of the Earth has been done in movie for ad nauseum, but it’s been long enough that I think we can stand another one. Assuming it’s done right. Whether this one is remains to be seen, but New Line has just sent us our first glimpse of the production, with 6 new stills from their Vernization.
