Judd Apatow Planning A Slasher Movie![]()
In Pineapple Express, we got to see what would happen if a pair of slacker dudes, raised on action movies, were actually forced to be part of one. Apparently producer Judd Apatow liked that idea so much he wants to try it again with horror movies-- and has pegged SNL and Adventureland star Bill Hader to write it.
Hader spoke to CHUD's Devin Faraci while doing press at Sundance, and let it slip that he and SNL writer Simon Rich are working on a slasher movie for Apatow. "'I don't know if it's even going to get made. Judd met with us and said "I want to do a horror movie with you. I want to see you in a slasher movie."' Hader describes it, curiously, as "'It's partially Straw Dogs meets Halloween meets Home Alone meets Monster Squad.' Huh? The idea seems to be to take a pair of guys, who relish violence onscreen and feel like they could handle it, then face them with an actual psycho killer. As Hader puts it, "The idea of that thing coming to your house, and what do you do? I would shit my pants." His talk about the movie maybe not getting released seems a little disingenuous, given how much power Apatow has as a producer and how well the idea seems to fit into the Apatow wheelhouse. So keep writing, Hader, and we'll be there shitting our pants with you. |
