This winter Will Smith is pursuing happiness, next year Julia Roberts is selling it. They should get together and make some sort of transaction.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Julia has signed to produce and possibly star in a movie based on a Lolly Winston novel called Happiness Sold Seperately. Scott Coffey will write the script and direct it.

The book is about a yuppie couple in their 40s who have their relationship tested when the husband Ted has an affair with his trainer. His wife Elinor withdraws from her husband and ends up dating a hunky shrubber. Ted goes back to cheating. Basically, it’s a bunch of horrible people causing each other a lot of misery. Sounds fun. Actually, it sounds a lot like another Julia Roberts movie, Closer.

Roberts is currently filming the Mike Nichols political drama Charlie Wilson’s War with Tom Hanks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams. This week you can catch her as the voice of a spider named Charlotte in the brilliant new family film Charlotte’s Web.
