Justin Long was one of the most surprisingly delightful elements of He's Just Not That Into You, with his combination of nerdy and snarky humor and general adorableness. Apparently at least one other person agrees with me, since Long has been cast in the lead role of Going the Distance, an upcoming romantic comedy directed by American Teen documentarian Nanette Burstein.

New Line has had their hands on the property for a while, a story about a long-distance relationship that breaks up. Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot, the pop geniuses behind movies like Hairspray, will produce the script by Geoff LaTulippe, according to Variety.

Burstein will be making her narrative feature debut with this film, but she did such a wonderful job with last summer's American Teen that I can't wait to see what she does with something a little more scripted. Is Justin Long's nerdy appeal enough for him to carry his own romantic leading role? So long as there are enough girls like me out there, his time has totally arrived.
