Katherine Heigl's 27 Dresses Changes Release Dates![]()
Change of plans for all you lingering Grey’s Anatomy fans. Katherine Heigl’s next movie, 27 Dresses, will not be opening two weekends from now. Fox has just announced that they’re pushing its release back from January 11th to January 18th.
It’s a somewhat bizarre decision since on the 11th it was practically running unopposed. There are only two other major movies being released that weekend. One, the awful looking Tracy Morgan comedy First Sunday, the other, In the Name of the King, an Uwe Boll movie. Heigl’s dress flick could have handled them with ease. Instead, she’s now going up against the juggernaut of JJ Abrams’ Cloverfield and also another chick flick in the form of the Katie Holmes/Diane Keaton/Queen Latifah heist movie Mad Money. Everyone will be seeing Cloverfield, without question, and if they’re hoping to provide counterprogramming, well now they’ll have to split that group with Mad Money. Maybe they’re banking on the Knocked Up crowd showing up to support her, but in light of her rather negative comments about the film last month, I’d consider that pretty unlikely. In a round about away she called everyone who liked it a sexist asshole, and that doesn’t do much to win you repeat ticket purchasers. I don’t want to be a sexist asshole, so I guess from now on to be safe I’ll just avoid all of her movies. That should make her happy. |
