Point Break director Kathryn Bigelow is planning a visit to the Iraq war with a new action drama about an elite bomb disposal unit. Production Weekly says it's called The Hurt Locker, and it follows the unit as they come together to play a "dangerous game of cat-and-mouse" in the middle of the war.
The real angle here seems to be how difficult it is for soldiers to tell combatants from civilians. Could be politically charged.
Bigelow co-wrote the script with a war reporter named Mark Boal, so expect at least some level of accuracy. Boal gets around, he just helped Crash's Paul Haggis write another war-related screenplay called In The Valley of Elah.
