Katniss, Peeta And Effie Get Ready To Party In New Hunger Games: Catching Fire Clip
In case you haven't already heard, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is collecting some absolutely incredible buzz. Of the 22 reviews currently posted on Rotten Tomatoes, 21 give the film a positive critique, and in my own review I couldn't help but applaud the impressive way the sequel builds upon the original. For those who are foaming at the chance to see the movie themselves, however, the good news is that the wait is now very short. One week from tonight at midnight, theaters all across the country will turn down the lights, start their projectors, and give audiences their first look at the new sci-fi adventure film. Until then we'll just have to be satisfied watching the movie in bits in pieces - like you can with this new clip courtesy of Apple.
This scene in the film comes after Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) have completed their Victory Tour around the 12 districts of Panem and have arrived at a fancy party in the Capitol to celebrate their win in the 74th annual Hunger Games. As great as the two heroes look in their bizarre future fashion, though, the real star of this clip is Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket. We noted it when the actress first signed on for the role back in 2011, but it's worth repeating: Banks was born to play this role. She was absolutely fantastic in the first movie, and in part two we actually get to see some really interesting emotional depth to the character. Plus she's also off the charts weird.
Banks, Lawrence and Hutcherson are far from the only stars returning from the first film, as they are also joined by Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy, Lenny Kravitz as Cinna, Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman, and Donald Sutherland as President Snow. In addition to the familiar faces, new addition to the franchise include Philip Seymour Hoffman as the new Game Master Plutarch Heavensbee, Jeffrey Wright as fellow former Hunger Games champion Beetee, Sam Claflin as the confident and untrustworthy Finnick Odair, and Jena Malone as the rebellious Johanna Mason. Let us know how excited you are to see the film in the comments below!
