MOVIE NEWS
Kelsey Grammer As Beast With Matthew Vaughn at the helm and Vinnie Jones playing Juggernaut, X-Men 3 only needs one more thing to be complete: A guy with “welcome aboard” tattooed on his dick. That man is Kelsey Grammer, and he’s playing Beast. CB Reader Steve sent us in a full report this morning:
I haven't seen this here yet, but it's X3 news. Variety announced that Kelsey Grammer has been cast to play Hank McCoy. It will be the 355 lbs, blue furry version. He'll also drink coffee, do a radio psychiatry show, and get his own spin off series where Hank and his brother get into hilarious hijinx if you find snobby humor funny. “Kelsey was born to play the role," [Avi] Arad said. “This is a big role in the new movie, and when we met with him, you can see that Kelsey has that you'd-better-have-a-dictionary-handy intelligence.” Vinnie Jones is confirmed as Juggernaut, but I think we all knew that already. I'm not paying attention so that could also be news. Maggie Grace (Shannon on Lost) is in negotiations to play Kitty Pryde. STEVE (Phenotype) I’d be quick to say that it’s going to be rather hard to get good acrobatic, Beast style stuntwork out of the paunchy Mr. Grammer, but they’ve made Ian McKellan a convincing action set piece and he’s at least 120 years old. Possibly 150. Athleticism can be faked and Grammer really does have the right sensibility for the brainy character. It’s a surprise and a little bizarre, but actually an inspired idea. The idea of Maggie Grace as Shadowcat isn’t a bad one either, provided she doesn’t prematurely exit television’s most important show “Lost” to do it. |
