Kenneth The Page Joins Cat Revolution![]()
I've had high hopes for Jack McBrayer ever since I caught him as naive Kenneth Parcell on 30 Rock, and I'm glad to hear that he's snagged a starring role after his hilarious supporting turn in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. But I've got to admit, my dreams of stardom for this guy didn't exactly include CGI talking animals, or for that matter, Chris O'Donnell.
O'Donnell and McBrayer will star in Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, a sequel to the 2001 movie that we all may as well have hallucinated for as well as it's remembered today. The story picks up again as cats and dogs battle for rule of the earth, writes The Hollywood Reporter, with humans presumably stuck haplessly between them. Bear in mind that the human leads of the last Cats & Dogs movie were Jeff Goldblum and Elizabeth Perkins; not to be mean, but neither of their movie careers have exactly taken off as a result (though, to be fair, Perkins is hilarious on Weeds). As for McBrayer, hey, you gotta start somewhere. While I'm ready to see my own 30 Rock spinoff-- The Kenneth Parcell Show!-- and emblazon the kid's face on currency, I recognize that these things take time. It seems everyone in Hollywood has to learn how to work with CGI animals, so I guess you may as well learn while you're on your way up. |
