Keri Russell has gotten to be part of some fun onscreen adventures, like in Bedtime Stories and Mission: Impossible III, but unfortunately she usually gets stuck on the sidelines why the guys get to have all the fun. That doesn't seem likely to change in Crowley, a movie in which she's just signed on to co-star with Brendan Fraser and Harrison Ford.
Indiana Jones and Rick O'Connell! How cool is that? But unfortunately, it looks like Russell will be playing happy homemaker while the boys go off adventuring. Variety describes her role as "a mother who tries to build a normal home life for her sick children while her husband, John (Fraser), and an unconventional scientist (Ford) race against time to find a cure." So Keri bakes the cupcakes and bathes the babies while the menfolk go solve problems. Classic.
I'm really just waiting for someone to give Russell a shot at a role half as complex and interesting as the one she played in Waitress, but I'm not really holding my breath. Good for her for earning a paycheck while the more deserved, better roles elude her.
