He survived the critical slaughter of Jersey Girl and his guest stint on “Ebert and Roeper,” and now Kevin Smith is convinced he can do anything. While talking to MovieHole, he said, "Next up I want to do a horror movie… but I don’t want to make a comedic one, I want to make a straight-forward horror movie." Yep, you heard that right. Expanding on the article we posted here, Smith wants to make a full-on horror flick in the vein of Race with the Devil or Wicker Man, "where it’s creepy and unsettling more than gore." Some of his favorite grisly movies include The Shining and Halloween, and he’s not a big fan of the current crop of horror offerings. "There seems to be a lot of remakes and whatnot. A lot of “Let’s do Texas Chainsaw. Again. And let’s do The Hills Have Eyes again." Smith isn’t looking to do a rehash of any kind. He explains, "The one thing I’m happy about is the idea that I have, I haven’t seen it done before." That’s a good thing, although I had never seen a man screw a donkey before (Clerks 2), and I’m pretty sure I could have gone to the grave without that experience. So on the plus side, his horror endeavor can't possibly be scarier than that. God willing.
