Sam Rockwell is seemingly showing up everywhere these days, in a bunch of indie comedies ranging from dark and depressing (Snow Angels) to dark and funny (Choke). Seriously, though, the guy has range, and now it looks like he might have the role that will give him a chance to prove it to everyone else.
Rockwell will be starring in Moon, playing a lunar miner whose tour of duty in space is about to end. When it comes time to go, though, his own clone shows up to replace him. During a press interview to promote Choke, io9 reports, Rockwell revealed who his non-clone co-star would be. "We've got Kevin Spacey who's going to play the voice of the robot. Which is great. But [otherwise] it's just me, and there are a couple of supporting roles of people who do transmissions onto the space station."
Seriously, who better than Kevin Spacey to play an all-knowing, most-likely-nefarious robot? It's like HAL from 2001, but with Spacey's awesomely suave voice. Moon comes out in 2009, and it may be a chance for more people to get to know Rockwell's talents, and to appreciate Spacey's all over again.
