Kick-Ass 2 Red-Band Trailer Racks Up More Kills For Hit Girl
Dave Lizewski’s costumed alter ego, Kick-Ass, took center stage in the first red-band trailer for the anticipated Kick-Ass sequel. Now, his pint-sized, teenaged partner Hit-Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) steps into the limelight for an international – and NSFW – trailer (above) that gives us a much better look at Jeff Wadlow’s superhero comedy.
In case you forgot, Hit-Girl lost her actual father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage), during the initial Kick-Ass movie. She’s attempting to start over in a new school with a new foster family, seeking what virtually every superhero in the history of comic books has ever wanted – the chance to put aside their mask and live a normal life. But we all know Mindy, aka Hit-Girl, is far from normal, and she’ll soon be back on the streets kicking all sorts of ass alongside a posse of costumed warriors.
This clip is slightly different from the other Hit-Girl-heavy trailer that arrived online earlier this week. The clips are part of a barrage of marketing materials for Kick-Ass 2, which also included this mildly disturbing up-close character poster for Jim Carrey’s Colonel Stars and Stripes.
Wadlow’s sequel follows the further adventures of the non-super-powered Kick-Ass, who finds that his heroic efforts from the first film have inspired a new wave of costumed crime-fighters. They’ll find out how dangerous this life can be, however, when Kick-Ass’s nemesis, The Motherfucker (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) returns to seek vengeance. Kick-Ass 2 arrives in theaters on Aug. 16.
