While he’s on hiatus from TV’s ‘24’, Kiefer Sutherland will not be spending his time shooting the long rumored, much discussed 24 movie. Instead, according to Variety he’s doing a thriller called Mirrors.
The movie is being directed by Alexandre Aja. He’s one of fringe members of the big torture porn push in the horror industry. His last movie was that remake of The Hills Have Eyes, and before that it was the much talked about 2003 movie Haute tension, known as High Tension in the United States.
Mirrors doesn’t sound like it will be another gorefest for him. Don’t expect random chainsaws hacking off Kiefer’s body parts. The movie is about a strange mirror which brings out the worst in people whenever they look at it. Sutherland will play the lead, an ex-cop stuck working mall security when he discovers something strange with the mirrors in one of the department stores he guards. Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the biggest bastard of them all? You are!
I like Kiefer Sutherland, but my brain automatically shuts off whenever I hear an actor I like is playing a cop. Cops are such an overdone role. Everyone plays a cop. Kiefer does a cop movie at least once every other year. I’d rather see him as a vampire or a creepy doctor with a gimpy leg. There’s no challenge to playing a cop, even in a twisted thriller. It’s kind of like playing the mentally handicapped, except you get Oscars for pretending to be retarded and you get lots of money for standing in front of a camera and waving around a plastic gun.

I just watched the horror flick "Mirrors", with Kiefer Sutherland.
I'm a big fan of the horror genre and the film does not disappoint. Plenty of blood and gore which was not overly done. The ending was a little bittersweet but not as disappointing as some films I've seen.
I can't say enough good things about it. The acting, the script, the cinematography, the musical score. Everything that goes into making a horror movie work was nailed right on the head in this one.
I love Keifer Sutherland ---but on this movie I would suggest a pass.
While I am a huge fan of Keifer Sutherland - and I think he did a very good acting job - this script is unworthy of him - the film had too many wholes in how it flowed. I love the fact of how Keifer played the cop - very well done.
