Killing Them Softly Will Hit Blu-ray Later This Month
Killing Them Softly had a fairly low presence at the box office, but those who saw the Brad Pitt vehicle mostly had nice things to say about the film. If you would like to join the ranks of critics and audiences who have caught the film, you’ll be able to do so when Killing Them Softly hits Blu-ray and DVD on March 26.
Despite the simultaneously gruesome and gentle title, Killing Them Softly is not for the faint of heart. The darkly comic story tells a tale of a mob hitman named Jackie Cogan (Pitt) and his job within a criminal system after a group of low-end crooks rip off a major crime syndicate. At it’s heart, the film offers sharply crafted dialogue and looks great onscreen, even for those who may be a little squeamish with the violent stuff. Besides, the cast is spectacular and includes Richard Jenkins, James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta, Scoot McNairy, and Ben Mendelsohn.
The home entertainment release will hit homes courtesy of Anchor Bay and the Weinstein Company, who have put together a set with a few bonus features, as long as you purchase the Blu-ray. Blu-ray copies will offer a “Making of” featurette, as well as a few deleted scenes. DVD copies may not come with extras, but they will run more cheaply at $29.98. Blu-ray copies are probably a better deal for those who want multiple ways to watch. Besides the extras, Blu-ray copies will also come with a DVD and digital copy. The Blu-ray combo pack will run for $39.99. You can pre-order the set over at Amazon.
